Manchester United have reportedly met with well-known agent Jorge Mendes to discuss a potential move for Sporting Lisbon youngster Geovany Quenda during next summer's transfer window.
Quenda, 17, has been one of the breakthrough stars in European football this season, making 21 appearances for Sporting, scoring twice and registering two assists in the process.
The Portuguese came through the Sporting system as a right-sided attacker, but he has been converted into a wing-back by Ruben Amorim, who left the Lisbon giants earlier this month to take charge of Man United.
Quenda's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with Man United, Manchester City and Arsenal among the clubs believed to be interested in signing the youngster in 2025.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United have met with Mendes, who is negotiating on behalf of Quenda's agent Igor Campedelli, to discuss a potential deal for the teenager.
Man United 'meet with Mendes to discuss Quenda'
Mendes has allegedly purchased half of Quenda's image rights, meaning that the well-known agent will be heavily involved in any transfer that may occur for the wing-back next year.
Sporting are allegedly expecting Man United to move for Quenda, with the Green and Whites bracing themselves for a huge battle to keep hold of one of the biggest young talents in world football.
As well as interest from the Premier League, Paris Saint-Germain are said to be keen on the Portuguese, who has a contract with Sporting until June 2027, with a release clause of approximately £83m.
Amorim's presence at Man United is believed to have placed the Red Devils in a strong position to sign Quenda, who has scored once and provided one assist in 12 league appearances during the 2024-25 campaign.
What position would Quenda play for Man United?
As expected, Amorim has implemented a 3-4-3 system at Man United since his arrival, and the team have scored eight times in their three matches under the Portuguese's management.
Amad Diallo was used as the right-sided wing-back against Everton on Sunday, and the Ivory Coast international provided two assists in an outstanding performance, with the home side recording a 4-0 win.
There is a feeling that Amad will eventually be pushed into one of the forward positions, though, with a specialist being signed in that area of the field, and Quenda could be the long-term right-sided wing-back for the 20-time English champions.
