Harry Redknapp has conceded that he is keen to bring Joe Cole to Queens Park Rangers during the January transfer window.
Recent reports had linked the R's with a swoop for the Liverpool attacker, who was given his senior debut by Redknapp back in 1998 while the pair were at West Ham United.
However, despite admitting that he would like to sign the 31-year-old, Redknapp feels that his wage demands could prove to be a stumbling block.
"I've got a lot of time for Joe as a player and as a person," said Redknapp. "I'd like to bring Joe here if I can but the deal would have to be right for the club.
"We couldn't do a deal as [Cole's wages] are at Liverpool. I'll have to speak to Brendan Rodgers. We'll have a chat when the time's right."
Cole joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Chelsea in the summer of 2010.
