Liverpool are reportedly locked in talks with Lille to cut short Divock Origi's season-long loan spell at the club.
The Belgium international signed for the Reds in the summer before being sent straight back to the French outfit in order to further develop his game.
However, a lack of firepower has forced Brendan Rodgers to deploy midfielder Raheem Sterling as a central-attacking forward in recent weeks, with Origi seen as the man needed to revitalise Liverpool's faltering forward line.
Despite Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini struggling to make an impact at Anfield this term, Rodgers previously cooled speculation that the club could be forced to cut Origi's loan spell short, although the Daily Star claims that the Reds boss has since had a rethink.
It is thought that Liverpool will have to pay a fee in the region of £5m to terminate the 19-year-old's loan spell at Lille, where he has scored four goals in 23 appearances this season.
