Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their interest in Xherdan Shaqiri by making a bid for the Bayern Munich midfielder.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to an array of Europe's elite clubs in recent months, with Juventus said to be the latest side interested in taking the Switzerland World Cup star on loan.
A report in The Express claims that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has now entered the race for the sought-after player, as he looks to add some additional quality to his side.
Bayern are said to want to sell Shaqiri on a permanent deal rather than loan him out, which could put Liverpool at the top of the chasing pack.
The Anfield outfit are currently eighth in the Premier League table, sitting nine points adrift of a Champions League qualification berth.
