Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes that captain Steven Gerrard should remain at the club for another two season after being offered a new contract.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he wants Steven Gerrard to remain at the club for another two years.

The 34-year-old has been offered a new deal by the Reds, as his current contract expires at the end of the season.

Rodgers has admitted that he is determined to keep his captain at Anfield for the near future, amid reports linking him a move abroad.

He told reporters: "He's had 16 incredible years here and I believe he can continue to work at this level for the next couple of years.

"Everyone knows his history at this club. What a player he has been, and still is. I see his talent every day and just need to manage that and think how it can be most effective.

"I love working with Steven Gerrard. I've enjoyed every single minute. I hope that continues."

Gerrard dismissed claims last week that he had fallen out with Rodgers after he was dropped for his side's clash against Stoke City on Saturday.
