Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers hails the club's business in the January transfer window as Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho continue to impress.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has praised the business the club did during last season's January transfer window.

Liverpool brought in Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho at the start of this year, with the pair instantly impressing at Anfield and helping their side string together a good run of form at the end of last season.

Sturridge in particular has continued that form into the current campaign, scoring four goals in three competitive games so far, and Rodgers believes that the England international could become one of Europe's top strikers in the future.

"Daniel Sturridge - that was a great piece of business by the club because, for me, he'll end up being one of the top European strikers over the next few years as long as he keeps his focus and keeps that work ethic," Rodgers told BBC Sport.

"The likes of young Coutinho, they just need to play in a certain team and a certain style to show their qualities otherwise people might say he's too small. But he's got wonderful vision and touch."

Liverpool's next match comes against bitter rivals Manchester United at Anfield tomorrow as they look to keep up their 100% start to the season.
