Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that striker Luis Suarez is committed to the club and that he will not be joining Manchester City.
According to The Mirror, the Premier League champions were planning a £40m bid for the Uruguayan forward, but after City quickly responded to the report by denying any interest in Suarez, the Liverpool boss revealed that he was looking to add to his squad rather than allowing one of his star players to leave.
Rodgers told reporters: "He is certainly not someone who we want to sell or move on.
"He is a brilliant player to work with and we want to add to our squad rather than move someone on, especially a world-class player. Luis has already shown his commitment to the club in the summer by signing a new deal here.
"I think we have seen recently that he is in a great moment in his footballing life here at Liverpool while he is scoring goals and working well. He is very very happy here."
Suarez has scored 31 goals in 67 appearances for Liverpool.
