Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he would like to conclude any transfer business before this summer's World Cup.
The Reds are expected to boost their squad in the coming months as they prepare to return to the Champions League.
While claiming that he is not looking to boost his ranks significantly, Rodgers is hoping to bring players to the club sooner rather than later.
"I don't want to put a figure on how many but I would rather have one or two absolute top players than seven that might not help us," he told Liverpool's official website.
"It's about the quality. We can't be going into the Champions League this year with doubts about players. Ideally you would want to get things done beforehand but it is difficult because transfers are so complex.
"The World Cup does make it difficult but the club and ourselves have been preparing for quite a few months now so we will try and get the business done as early as we can."
Rodgers was named Manager of the Year by the League Managers' Association on Monday night following his side's second-place finish in the Premier League table.
