Liverpool legend Tommy Smith believes that Andy Carroll should be brought back to the club when his loan deal with West Ham United expires in the summer.
The Reds loaned the striker to the Hammers back in August, but Smith thinks that Carroll has the ability to still play a part at Anfield.
"Brendan Rodgers clearly isn't an admirer of Carroll and I can respect that," Smith wrote in his column in the Liverpool Echo.
"But I have always thought Carroll offered something, and I still do. Ok, his injury record has not been good this season, but when fit and firing he presents a strong threat. So I'm disappointed we have not found a way to accommodate him [this season]."
Carroll will be ineligible when Sam Allardyce's side play the Reds at Anfield tomorrow afternoon.
