Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly launched a late bid to scupper Liverpool's approach for Fulham forward Clint Dempsey.
The USA international, who has been open about his desire to leave the Cottagers after refusing to play for them at the start of the Premier League season, has been widely linked with a move to Anfield.
While Fulham were believed to have agreed a deal with Aston Villa for the 29-year-old's services, it is understood that the forward refused a switch to Villa Park due to his preference of joining Liverpool.
It appears that, along with the Reds, Tottenham have lodged a bid for Dempsey, who remains in limbo with just hours of the transfer window left to go, according to Sky Sports News.
Dempsey has been at Craven Cottage since 2007.
