West Bromwich Albion are ready to step up their interest in Wigan Athletic striker Arouna Kone.
The Baggies have identified the forward as one of their main targets as they look to sign a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who is heading back to Chelsea.
Kone is likely to be interested in the move after admitting that he wants to leave the DW Stadium for a Premier League side.
The Ivory Coast international reportedly has a £6.5m release clause and, according to the Birmingham Mail, is not expected to demand high wages.
Steve Clarke's side face a battle for the 29-year-old's signature, with Everton, managed by Kone's former boss Roberto Martinez, Liverpool and newly-promoted Hull City all reportedly interested.
Kone scored 13 goals for Wigan last season.
