Wigan Athletic are reportedly keen on taking Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing to the DW Stadium next season.

Wigan Athletic are reportedly showing an interest in Liverpool's Jay Spearing.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers and the recently-relegated Latics are keen on the Reds midfielder, according to the Daily Mail.

Spearing was voted Bolton's Player of the Year but has been frozen out at Anfield following the arrival of Brendan Rodgers last summer.

Newcastle United were also reported to be monitoring the player's situation at Anfield.
