Yerry Mina to consider Barcelona future following World Cup exit

Yerry Mina says that he will wait before discussing his Barcelona future in depth, amid strong rumours that Liverpool are in pursuit of his signature.

Barcelona defender Yerry Mina has suggested that he intends to take some time out before making a decision on his club future following Colombia's exit from the World Cup.

The 23-year-old caught the eye of numerous clubs with his performances in Russia, becoming just the second player in his nation's history - after James Rodriguez four years ago - to score in three successive matches in the tournament.

Mina's headed equaliser against England was not enough to keep Colombia's adventure alive, though, as they went on to lose 4-3 on penalties at the Spartak Stadium.

Amid strong rumours that Liverpool are in pursuit of his signature, the centre-back was not willing to discuss his next career move when probed immediately after the defeat.

"In my head, I'm going back to Barca," he told Mundo Deportivo. "Now is not the time to talk about my future, but the World Cup has helped me reconnect and reaffirm myself as a footballer."

Mina was used just six times by Barcelona in the second half of last season after joining from Palmeiras in January.
