Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett has received online death threats after it emerged that Luis Suarez could be a doubt for Uruguay's World Cup campaign.
The Uruguayan FA have confirmed that Suarez has undergone knee surgery following an injury that he initially picked up against Newcastle in the final game of the season on May 11.
During the match, Dummett was sent off for a tackle on the prolific striker, which could have contributed to Suarez's injury blow ahead of next month's tournament in Brazil.
According to The Chronicle, one Twitter user wrote to Dummett online saying: "Hi Paul Dummett, from Uruguay we hope someday u come here to have a nice time w/ friends. We have things for you, like a bullet in the head."
Another tweeted: "We kill you."
The Uruguayan FA are confident that Suarez, who scored 31 goals for Liverpool last season, will be fit for the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Dummett has had his red card rescinded by the Football Association.
