Uruguay assistant coach Celso Quintas believes that Luis Suarez is beginning to win over England's public after being harshly treated during his time with Liverpool.
The South Americans have been drawn in the same World Cup group as the Three Lions, Italy and Costa Rica.
"I think, little by little, he is winning around the English public, and they are at least showing him the respect he deserves," The Mirror quotes Quintas as saying.
"That's about time because he is a fantastic footballer and does not deserve the treatment he has been given. Luis has shown his exceptional talent since he has been playing in England.
"But what he has also shown is great strength and resistance against a flood of 'information' intended to put him down and belittle him."
Suarez has scored 14 goals for Liverpool this season.
