England midfielder Raheem Sterling has revealed that he won't put himself under any extra pressure to perform in the World Cup.
The 19-year-old had an excellent season with Liverpool as he notched nine goals helping them record a second-place finish in the Premier League.
Sterling has admitted that he won't be bothered by the Three Lions' past failures because he can only remember the last time they were involved in the competition four years ago.
He told reporters: "The first World Cup I fully remember was the last one, when Steven Gerrard scored early in the first game against the United States.
"I was sitting on my sofa, eating pizza, then went out for a little kickabout at half-time to try to imitate these boys like Steve.
"I've heard about what Michael Owen did in 98, but I'm not going to put myself under pressure and say I'm going to do what he did. I'm just going to work hard for the team."
England face Peru in a warm-up game next week at Wembley.
