Interim England manager Gareth Southgate will start Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge in this evening's World Cup qualifier against Scotland, according to a report.
A lack of fitness for Harry Kane, who has featured just once in two months for Tottenham Hotspur, means that Southgate is unable to shuffle his pack for the Wembley Stadium showdown.
The Guardian suggests that Wayne Rooney will return to the side in a number 10 role due to the absence of specialist Dele Alli, having been overlooked for the Three Lions' goalless draw with Slovenia last month.
Sturridge started that clash in Ljubljana and, despite not finding the target, the Liverpool ace - without a top-flight start since mid-October - will once again be given the nod to lead the line.
Raheem Sterling and Adam Lallana are expected to start out wide, meanwhile, with Rooney playing as the central pivot of the three just off Sturridge in the first competitive meeting between England and Scotland since 1999.
