Lorient defeated Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1 this afternoon thanks to Jeremie Aliadiere's last-minute penalty at the Stade du Moustoir.
Kevin Monnet-Paquet had the first decent effort of the game for Lorient just before the quarter-hour mark when his shot from a tight angle was beaten out by Stephane Ruffier.
First to try his luck for Saint-Etienne was Romain Hamouma, whose long-range effort was tipped over by Fabian Audard.
Five minutes after half time Lorient were within inches of going in front when Vincent Aboubakar struck the post.
Saint-Etienne responded and could have gone in front, but Brandao headed wide.
Both sides had more chances but the deadlock wasn't broken until the 90-minute mark when Aliadiere converted from 12 yards after Josuha Guilavogui's handball in the box.
