Real Sociedad have defeated Lyon 2-0 away from home in the first leg to take control of their Champions League playoff tie.
Sociedad had the first chance, Carlos Vela hitting the post after receiving a pass from Haris Seferovic.
The lead did come shortly after with a goal from Antoine Griezmann. Vela chipped in a pass to the penalty area and Griezmann adjusted his body to volley in acrobatically.
Lyon's response came in the form of Yoann Gourcuff, who forced Claudio Bravo to tip the ball round his near post.
Alexandre Lacazette had an appeal for a penalty turned down, but Lyon struggled to create any clear-cut chances.
After the break, Maxime Gonalons rose highest to meet a header but failed to test Bravo in Sociedad's goal.
Just two minutes later, Sociedad extended their advantage through Seferovic.
The striker collected the ball 30 yards from goal and struck a dipping half-volley that swerved in the air past Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes, who got a touch.
Lyon had a great chance to get back into the match, but Gonalons struck the bar with a looping header.
Milan Bisevac then forced Bravo into a save, but the defender's game was soon over when he received a second yellow card for a late challenge.
Esteban Granero came on for Sociedad and curled a shot straight at Lopes, who took two attempts to gather the ball.
It could have been 3-0 late on, but Ruben Pardo's shot was cleared off the line.
