Lyon coach Remi Garde has admitted that he is encouraged by his side's preparations and feels that they are in good shape ahead of the new season.
Garde's team drew 2-2 against Real Madrid on Wednesday evening, with the coach claiming that the result meant his side are ready.
"There were lots of encouraging things to take from the match," Ligue1.com quotes Garde as saying. "The first half was very good.
"Real have only just started their preseason training but we know they are still capable of causing any team problems.
"We conceded two goals, but not from open play. I think we are ready. This match will hold us in good stead."
Lyon finished third in Ligue 1 last season.
