An Alexandre Lacazette hattrick helped Lyon defeat Saint-Etienne 3-0 at Stade de Gerland this evening.
Lacazette scored his first just before half time, before doubling his account after Rafael's shot was parried into the Frenchman's path. He then got his third in the final play of the game after rounding Stephane Ruffier.
The first shot of note was when Ruffier had to turn Rafael's strike around the post, before the Etienne keeper did well to double-save shots from Jordan Ferri and Mathieu Valbuena.
Ruffier was unable to stop Lacazette's shot though, the attacker firing into the far corner.
Lacazette then grabbed his second deep into the second half, before Romain Hamouma tried to get a goal back for Etienne, but Jeremy Clement was able to punch his dangerous shot away.
The striker secured his hattrick after being played down the right before rounding the hapless Ruffier to slot the ball into the empty net.
The win means Lyon remain in second in Ligue 1, 10 points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain, while Saint-Etienne drop down to fifth.
