Lyon have been held to a goalless draw by Montpellier HSC in Ligue 1 this afternoon.
The home side had the majority of the early possession, with Clement Grenier having a couple of shots go wide in the opening 25 minutes, before a long-range effort from a free kick just cleared the crossbar.
The visitors started to find their way into the match as half time approached, with their best chance falling to M'Baye Niang for a volley from just outside the box, forcing a good save from Anthony Lopes.
Niang had another chance from the resulting corner, but his header was comfortably claimed by the keeper.
Grenier and Alexandre Lacazette continued to test the Montpellier defence in the second half, but were unable to break the deadlock.
Bafetimbi Gomis came close after coming on as a substitute for Lyon, as he looked to curl the ball in from a tight angle, but he saw his shot saved.
The home side continued pressing in the final five minutes, with late efforts from Bakary Kone and Clinton N'Jie, but none of their shots was able to give them the win.
The result lifts Lyon up to sixth in the table, while Montpellier climb to seventh.
