Lyon have climbed to fourth in Ligue 1 with a dominant display in a 5-1 triumph over Montpellier HSC on Sunday evening.
Montpellier should have broken the deadlock with the first chance of the game, but Hilton could only head wide from Morgan Sanson's inviting cross.
Lyon responded well following a bright start from the visitors, and started to dominate possession midway through the first half.
The hosts were in front in the 36th minute when Yoann Gourcuff fired home after Montpellier had failed to clear a free kick.
Montpellier's hopes of fighting back were dealt a blow two minutes later when Alexandre Lacazette picked out Nabil Fekir, who finished with a clever chip to double his side's advantage.
Lyon looked on course to make it a thrashing when Gourcuff slotted in his second of the night after linking with Christophe Jallet two minutes into the second half.
Siaka Tiene reduced the deficit in impressive style with a free kick which left Anthony Lopes powerless in the Lyon goal.
However, it would be the hosts who had the final say as Lacazette scored his eighth of the season at the end of a fast counter-attack, before the forward turned into the provider to set up Steed Malbranque, who drilled home to round off a successful night.
