Lyon's winless streak has extended to five games as they played out a goalless draw against Rennes in Ligue 1.
The visitors were the first to test the opposition keeper, doing so in the fourth minute when Foued Kadir latched onto a cut-back from Jonathan Pitroipa only to see his effort parried away by Anthony Lopes.
Maxime Gonalons came close to breaking the deadlock for the hosts midway through the first half, rising highest to meet a corner only to steer his header wide of the far post.
Alexandre Lacazette forced a good save out of Benoit Costil seven minutes after the restart when his powerful low strike was turned around the post by the Rennes keeper.
Lacazette came even closer just after the hour mark when he fired a shot that found its way past Costil but not Romain Danze, who was on the line to produce a fine diving header clear.
Lyon continued to pile the pressure on and almost found an opening goal with 20 minutes left when Bafetimbi Gomis turned his man before rifling a shot off the underside of the bar and out.
Gomis had another chance less than a minute later, but again he was unfortunate as he missed a header from close range.
That proved to be the last good opening of the match as Rennes held out for a draw that lifts them up to fifth in the table, while Lyon now sit eighth.
