Bafetimbi Gomis's proposed transfer from Lyon to Newcastle United has reportedly hit a breaking point over financial problems.
The French striker, who was strongly linked with a move to St James' Park over the summer, is out of contract at the end of the season at the Stade de Gerland and has made it clear that he intends to leave the club.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is supposedly eager to make the 28-year-old his latest French recruit, but finalising a deal for the forward looks to be in jeopardy after the player's representatives demanded £1m in fees for the transfer to be completed, according to Chronicle Live.
Newcastle, who were said to be put off in the summer over Gomis's wage demands, are now considering other options.
