Two second-half goals gave Espanyol a 2-0 win over Champions League quarter-finalists Malaga in La Liga this lunchtime.
The visitors made a strong start to the match, but Malaga fought their way into the game towards the end of the first half. However, neither side made the most of their chances in the opening period.
The action was end-to-end at the start of the second half, leading to Espanyol breaking the deadlock in the 50th minute, as Diego Colotto picked up the ball from a Wilfredo Caballero mistake and tapped it past the keeper.
The hosts fought hard as they tried to get back on level terms, but the visitors struck again against the run of play, Sergio Garcia firing the ball into the top corner.
Isco and Duda had chances to reduce Espanyol's advantage, but both sent their efforts over the crossbar.
The win leaves Espanyol 13th in the table, while Malaga remain sixth.
