Late goals from Youssef El Arabi and Ruben Rochina rescued a point for Granada as they drew 2-2 against Malaga.
Charles was lively in the first half, and came close to opening the scoring in the 15th minute but Andres Fernandez made the diving save.
The striker was again denied from close range after receiving the ball from a free kick on the half-hour mark.
It was third time lucky for Charles on the verge of half time though, when he headed the ball into the net from Miguel Torres's cross.
Malaga were reduced to 10 men shortly after the restart when Fernando Tissone picked up his second yellow card, but that initially served to galvanise the home side.
Nordin Amrabat's shot was saved by Fernandez in the 57th minute, but Pablo Fornals doubled Malaga's lead moments later with a scissor kick which bounced into the roof of the net.
Juan Carlos came close to scoring a third on the hour mark but his shot went just wide of the right post.
Malaga were seemingly in control and heading towards a comfortable victory, but El Arabi made it 2-1 in the 83rd minute when he headed in from close range.
Rochina rescued a point three minutes later when Cristiano Biraghi's cross found him unmarked in the penalty area to head the ball inside the right post.
