Manchester City attacker Kevin De Bruyne has insisted that his team "deserved" to beat Barcelona in Tuesday night's Champions League clash at the Etihad Stadium.
Lionel Messi sent the visitors ahead in the 21st minute of the Group C fixture, but a brace from Ilkay Gundogan and a De Bruyne free kick secured a 3-1 victory for the Premier League leaders.
De Bruyne has admitted that Man City "made a few mistakes" in the first period, but claimed that his team were worthy winners over the Spanish champions courtesy of their second-half performance.
"It was a big game for us. We knew we would be under pressure. We made a few mistakes, but we were very good in the second half and deserved it. Barcelona did not create too much in the end. We deserved the victory," De Bruyne told BT Sport.
Man City are now just two points behind Barcelona at the top of Group C.
