Manchester City have announced that their Champions League Group C clash against Borussia Monchengladbach has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
Rain descended onto the Etihad Stadium in the buildup to the match, which caused a deluge on the turf, making it unplayable.
Match referee Bjorn Kuipers and his fellow officials inspected the pitch around half an hour before the scheduled kickoff, but the waterlogged surface prevented the ball from travelling smoothly.
After discussions between UEFA and the clubs, it was announced via social media that play is not possible this evening, but it is not yet known when the match will go ahead.
The European governing body has previously played postponed matches 24 hours later.
