Samir Nasri: 'Our jobs are on the line at Manchester City'

Samir Nasri warns his Manchester City teammates that they could be shipped out in the summer if they fail to reach the last-16 stage of the Champions League.

Samir Nasri believes that he and his Manchester City teammates are facing being axed if the club suffers another group-stage exit from the Champions League.

City, bottom of Group E, host Bayern Munich at Eastlands tonight knowing that they must beat the Germans and Roma to stand any hope of reaching the last 16.

The Sky Blues have never progressed beyond the second round of the competition, and went out at the group stage in back-to-back seasons under Roberto Mancini.

"We need to do something or otherwise next year it is going to be new players, it's going to be new everything," the Frenchman is quoted as saying by The Express.

"That's how it works when you play for a big team, a big club. You have to respond and show everyone you deserve to qualify.

"With the salary of every player and the level of those players - 90 per cent of the team is world class – not to qualify from the first round of the Champions League would be a huge blow for the club and for us as well."

Pep Guardiola's Bayern side have already sealed their progress to the next phase as group winners.
