Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that Fernandinho could be fit in time for Tuesday's visit from Barcelona in the Champions League.
The Brazilian midfielder was expected to miss out after suffering a muscle injury.
However, the Chilean coach has claimed that the £30m summer signing could be ready to meet the La Liga champions.
Pellegrini is quoted as saying in The Mirror: "Fernandinho? Maybe if he works on Sunday in a normal way and Monday he is 100% fit and if he does not have any scare about his injury, we will see if he can play.
"If there is any risk, they will not play. They have to be 100 per cent. if there is any risk of them being injured again, they won't play. we will talk to the doctor and see what happens."
City eased past Chelsea 2-0 in the FA Cup on Saturday evening.
