Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is delighted with his side's 3-1 win over Dynamo Kiev, but warns that the Champions League tie is not yet over.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has said that he is "very pleased" with his side's 3-1 victory over Dynamo Kiev this evening, but warned that the Champions League tie is not over just yet.

City took a big step towards reaching the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time in their history by scoring three away goals at the Olympic Stadium, with Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Yaya Toure all on the scoresheet.

Kiev, who have never won in England before, must now at least match that result in the second leg at the Etihad Stadium to avoid crashing out of the competition, but Pellegrini was wary of declaring victory too soon.

"I'm very happy because it is a very good result," the Chilean told BT Sport.

"It is not finished but playing away and having a two-goal lead is very good. The team played well and had lots of chances. Maybe when it was 2-1 we had moments of doubt, but then we got the third goal.

"Is the tie settled? No, it is important in football to never think it is finished. But to have that third goal gives us more confidence for the second leg."

Before tonight, City had never won a Champions League knockout game.
