Manchester City centre-back Micah Richards has admitted that he and his defensive teammates are uncomfortable playing as a back three after switching to that formation in the second half against Ajax.
Despite starting the game in a flat back four, Roberto Mancini changed to three at the back after going 2-1 down with the third goal scored shortly afterwards. Richards revealed that they have not done much work on that formation in training.
"It is something that we have not worked on a lot and it is the second time we have conceded after going to a back three," Richards told Sky Sports News.
"If it is [a formation] we want to do well in we'll have to work on it a bit more. I think the players prefer a 4-4-2, but it is [about] what the manager wants and we'll do what he says."
City are currently bottom of Group D and could be eliminated form the Champions League after the next round of fixtures.
