Yaya Toure has apologised to Manchester City supporters for being sent off in Wednesday night's shock 2-1 home defeat to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.
City's hopes of reaching the last-16 stage sustained considerable damage after two first-half goals from Seydou Doumbia proved enough to down the Sky Blues, who finished with nine men.
Toure, who netted his side's equaliser, followed Fernandinho down the tunnel on 82 minutes after a violent push on Roman Eremenko earned him a straight red card.
The result leaves Manuel Pellegrini's side bottom of Group E on two points, two adrift of CSKA and Roma in joint second and 10 behind runaway leaders Bayern Munich.
The Premier League champions host the German giants at Eastlands in the penultimate fixture of their group stage on November 25.
