Three first-half goals help Manchester City ease past Sevilla in their Champions League clash, as Raheem Sterling, Fernandinho and Wilfried Bony find the net.

Three first-half goals helped Manchester City ease past Sevilla in their Champions League clash this evening to wrap up qualification from Group D.

The visitors started the match positively, and took the lead on eight minutes when Fernandinho played in Raheem Sterling, who cut in from the left before firing past Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico.

City doubled their advantage just three minutes later, as Rico parried a Bony effort into the path of Fernandinho, who placed the ball into the net.

Manuel Pellegrini's side came close to a third goal moments later, Jesus Navas cutting inside from the right before trying his luck on goal, only for his effort to hit the far post.

Sevilla grew into the match as the half went on, and pulled a goal back on 25 minutes when Coke found Benoit Tremoulinas with an inviting chipped pass, before the Frenchman headed past City keeper Joe Hart.

The hosts almost found an equaliser moments later, as Hart kept out a Timothee Kolodziejczak header from a corner, before Vicente Iborra fired wide from the rebound.

City restored their two-goal cushion on 36 minutes, Navas finding Bony with an inviting cross, before the Ivorian striker fired past Rico.

After the break the visitors came close to a fourth goal, as Fernandinho forced a save from Rico before Sevilla defender Adil Rami blocked a Sterling effort.

Sevilla controlled possession for large parts of the second half, but the visitors looked dangerous on the break when Yaya Toure dragged an effort wide, before Bony saw an effort blocked by Kolodziejczak.
