Manchester City's football development executive Patrick Vieira backs France to beat England.

Manchester City's football development executive Patrick Vieira has taken to Twitter to back France in their Euro 2012 opener against England.

The Frenchman, who has represented Arsenal and England, did offer words of praise, however, to his former City teammates.

"I hope Joe Hart, James Milner and Joleon Lescott do well today, but I'm sure you understand that I'm supporting France," he tweeted.

England currently lead France 1-0 in the opening half courtesy of a Joleon Lescott header.
