Sergio Aguero has put Manchester City into a half-time lead at already-relegated Reading in the Premier League this evening.
City, playing their first game without the sacked Roberto Mancini, got into their stride quickly as Aguero was twice denied by Royals keeper Alex McCarthy in the opening 10 minutes.
Stand-in manager Brian Kidd was forced into making an early City change as Kolo Toure hobbled off for Maicon.
Soon after Reading had their first decent chance when Hal Robson-Kanu drilled an effort just wide of Joe Hart's goal.
After the half-hour mark the home side came even closer when, first Gareth McCleary sprinted into the area and forced Hart into a low save, and then Robson-Kanu tested the England number one.
But with five minutes left of the half, City found a way past McCarthy. James Milner and David Silva exchanged passes before the former laid in Aguero, who slotted home.
