:Headline: Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Preston North End: ID:372399: from db_amp
Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's EFL Cup showdown with Preston North End.

Manchester City kick off their EFL Cup defence with a trip to Preston North End on Tuesday evening.

Pep Guardiola's men responded excellently to last weekend's loss to Norwich City with a 3-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in midweek and a resounding 8-0 triumph over Watford on Saturday.

Alex Neil's Preston, meanwhile, have won five of their last six in all competitions and currently sit third in the Championship table.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's match.

Leroy Sane

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 18 (vs. Crystal Palace)

The German international has undergone surgery for the knee injury he picked up during the Community Shield back in August and he is expected to return early in the new year.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

The Frenchman is expected to be out for around six months after getting injured against Brighton & Hove Albion, leaving Guardiola with limited options at the heart of defence.

John Stones

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: October 19 (vs. Crystal Palace)

England's Stones picked up a muscular injury last week and he is expected to be out of the first-team picture for around a month, further limiting the Spaniard's central defensive options.

Phil Foden

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Virus
Possible return date: September 24 (vs. Preston North End)

The prodigiously talented youngster missed City's trip to the Ukraine and the Norwich hammering with a stomach virus but he is expected to feature in some capacity in Lancashire.
