David Silva has emerged as a major doubt for Sunday's Manchester derby after limping off during the early stages of Manchester City's League Cup clash with Newcastle United.
The midfielder, who has been one of City's star performers this season, was felled by Magpies player Ryan Taylor in the fourth minute which saw the Spaniard receive treatment.
Despite attempting to continue, Silva had to be replaced by Samir Nasri shortly afterwards, with the injury seemingly putting his participation against Manchester United under threat.
The 28-year-old has scored twice in 13 games in all competitions during the current campaign.
