Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Manchester City on Wednesday, July 15.

The buildup to the summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Manchester City eye possible reinforcements.

The 2018-19 champions did not bring in a single player during the January transfer window, despite suffering a defensive shortage for much of the campaign so far.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings at the Etihad.

Wednesday morning's Manchester City transfer talk news roundup:

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 'wants Tottenham Hotspur move'

Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is supposedly determined to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.

The Denmark international has made it known that he wishes to join a club competing in the Champions League, and Spurs have been heavily linked with an approach as of late.

However, Hojbjerg would reportedly cost in the region of £35m despite having less than a year left on his current deal, although Spurs are said to be confident of lowering Southampton's asking price.

According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham are willing to include right-back Kyle Walker-Peters as part of a deal for the former Saints captain.

Walker-Peters has spent the season on loan at Ralph Hasenhuttl's side and has played the full 90 minutes in Southampton's last four outings, and the report suggests that the Saints have earmarked the right-back spot as a priority area to strengthen ahead of next season.

Manchester City are also said to be keeping a close eye on developments surrounding Hojbjerg's future.

Barcelona 'line up five players to use in Lautaro Martinez swap'

Barcelona have reportedly stepped up their interest in Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez amid speculation that Manchester City have entered the race for his signature.

The Spanish giants have long regarded the 22-year-old as their number one transfer target this summer, having identified him as an ideal long-term successor for Luis Suarez.

However, Inter's refusal to consider bids of anything below Martinez's £98.8m release clause prevented a deal from being struck, while the Italian outfit can now charge what they want after that clause expired.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu this week confirmed that talks over a deal for the Argentine have stalled, but Mundo Deportivo claims that reported interest from Man City has forced the Catalan club to revive their efforts.

Barca have reportedly drawn up three possible deals to take to Inter, one of which would see the Milan club given their choice of Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic or Samuel Umtiti to include in a swap deal.

Option two would see Barcelona sell Ousmane Dembele in order to raise funds for Martinez, while the third option would be to offer Inter £37m plus Junior Firpo in return for the Argentina international.

Martinez has scored 18 goals and created six more in 39 appearances across all competitions this season.
