Last week was all about redemption as far as we were concerned, largely because our advice from week 11 was rather disappointing.

On the whole, we did okay. Luis Suarez and Loic Remy both found the back of the net, while there was a clean sheet for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.

Meanwhile, on the avoid list we named John Ruddy and Ben Turner, who were part of teams that conceded two goals apiece. We also included Roberto Soldado and the Tottenham Hotspur striker was ineffective away at Manchester City.

So, after a more positive week, below we've selected the Premier League players we believe are worth picking and avoiding in your fantasy football teams ahead of this weekend's round of matches.

Who to pick

1. Sergio Aguero: Is there a more in-form striker in European football right now? The Argentine has 10 Premier League goals to his name this term and 15 in all competitions. At the weekend he will come up against Swansea City - a side that he will have fond memories of, having scored twice on his Man City debut against them back in 2011.

2. Yoan Gouffran: He has gone about it relatively quietly, largely because his teammate and fellow Frenchman Remy has been clinical in front of goal, but Gouffran has been one of Newcastle United's leading lights in recent weeks. In fact, without Gouffran, it could be argued that Remy would not have been as lethal, such is the the understanding that the two have seemingly forged. In Newcastle's last three matches, the number 11 has either scored or laid on a goal. On Saturday the Magpies play host to West Bromwich Albion, who have shipped eight goals from their six encounters on the road.

3. Gabriel Agbonlahor: Having spent the last few weeks on the sidelines with an injury, Aston Villa have felt Agbonlahor's absence. He returned against West Brom on Monday and was viewed as part of the reason why Villa overhauled a deficit to claim a share of the spoils. He has plenty of pace, which will trouble most defences, particularly those that are lacking in strength like Sunderland, who visit Villa Park on Saturday.

4. Philippe Coutinho: The Brazilian playmaker had not scored with his previous 19 shots this season prior to his goal during last weekend's Merseyside derby. Quite often, once a player breaks his duck, they tend to embark on a scoring run. Even if that's not the case, Coutinho has struck up a positive partnership with Suarez since his January arrival from Inter Milan, so an assist or two against Hull City on Sunday should not be ruled out.

5. Tim Howard: Coutinho's goal was the first that Everton's Howard had conceded in five hours and 34 minutes. While the defence in front of him has been solid for the majority of the season, when called upon the American has rarely let his team down. At the weekend Everton will host Stoke City, who have struggled to carve out opportunities on occasions. In truth, there are few better opponents to face when you are seeking a clean sheet.

Who to avoid

1. Michel Vorm: As mentioned above, goalkeeper Vorm and his Swansea side will be up against the prolific Aguero on Sunday. It's not just the Argentine either, because Alvaro Negredo has hit the ground running in England, while the likes of Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri are more than capable of chipping in with a goal. When you've conceded 16 goals in 12 outings like Swansea have, the last place you want to visit is the Etihad Stadium, where City have scored 26 times from six matches.

2. Dimitar Berbatov: We put some faith in Berbatov last week by advising you to pick the Bulgarian. Long story short, he was awful against Swansea City, so we've punished him by dropping his name on this list! As petty as that seems, there is some logic behind it. He's scored just one Premier League goal this season and has been criticised for what is perceived to be a lack of effort. His Fulham team travel to West Ham United this weekend and aside from their mistake-riddled performance against Chelsea last time out, they had conceded just two goals at Upton Park.

3. Roberto Soldado: Tottenham have scored nine Premier League goals this season, which is one fewer than Aguero has managed on his own. The man that was signed to score Spurs' goals was Soldado, but it just hasn't happened for him so far. In fairness to the Spaniard, he's looked isolated in Andre Villas-Boas's 4-5-1 formation and the head coach has already said that he is planning to use the same tactics for Manchester United's visit at the weekend.

4. Curtis Davies: The centre-back has been one of Hull's most consistent performers this campaign, so why include him on this list? Well, on Sunday he will come up against the likes of Suarez, Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge, who are arguably three of the most dangerous footballers in the Premier League at this moment in time.

5. Michael Turner: Few defences have been leakier than Norwich City's since the start of the season. This Saturday Crystal Palace will visit Carrow Road and the Eagles should be full of confidence after their victory at Hull last weekend. What's more, they also have a new manager in Tony Pulis to impress. On a personal note, Turner is also susceptible to a yellow card, having collected four already.
