Pep Guardiola has admitted that it is important Manchester City "respect" opponents and the Premier League across their final four games of the campaign.
The Citizens boss was speaking in the wake of comments made by goalkeeper Ederson, who confessed that he is hoping to get on the scoresheet before the season ends.
City are left with little to play for in the top flight, other than setting a few more records - most points and most goals scored among them - but Guardiola will not grant Ederson his wish of taking a penalty should his side be rewarded one over the next fortnight.
"That is not going to happen because he is a goalkeeper," the Catalan told reporters at his pre-West Ham United presser. "Respect for the opponents, respect for the competition. One situation is a shootout, maybe he can do that but not in a game."
Man City are just two goals short of the 100 mark in the Premier League this term.
