Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says that he is open to remaining at the Etihad Stadium past the end of his three-year contract.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has acknowledged that the length of his stay at the Etihad Stadium will depend on the club's results.

During his first season in charge, City failed to win a trophy and only finished in third place in the Premier League, but a summer spending spree has led to the North-West outfit being considered as the favourites to win the title in the upcoming campaign.

Guardiola has two years remaining on his existing contract, but he has spoken of a willingness to remain at the club past 2019 as he looks to establish the club as the biggest team in England.

The 46-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "I will try to remain as long as possible to help, to help City keep moving forward and stay high.

"I think the club has to work and listen to the manager in the right moment, but also take their own decisions in the future. Nobody knows what will happen. For all the managers in the world it depends on the results."

Earlier this week, City thrashed Real Madrid 4-1 in a friendly in the United States.
