Bury goalkeeper Jack Ruddy is the subject of a transfer tug-of-war between Aston Villa and Manchester City, according to a report.
The 17-year-old spent time training with the Villans last week, but the West Midlands outfit may now face stern competition from their Premier League rivals.
It is claimed by The Sun that City have asked to take a closer look at the Glasgow-born stopper, despite Tim Sherwood rumoured to be confident of securing a deal.
Bury boss David Flitcroft revealed earlier this week that "other clubs have been alerted and have inquired" over the youngster's availability, with the Citizens now thought to be the frontrunners to complete a move.
Ruddy joined the Shakers last year after spending time at Spanish Segunda Division side Real Murcia.
