Roberto Mancini: "We lost two points"

Roberto Mancini believes that Manchester City played well enough to beat Chelsea and let two crucial points slip in today's goalless draw.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini believes that his side let a golden opportunity to beat Chelsea slip this afternoon.

City had more possession and shots on goal at Stamford Bridge but were held to a goalless draw by the Blues in Rafael Benitez's first game in charge.

Mancini thinks that side would have won the game if they had shown more killer instinct in the final third.

He told Sky Sports News: "Games here are always hard but today we played well while missing the last pass. We were too soft when we arrived near the box, you can play well like that here and not win the game.

"We had the better chances, I think that we lost two points. We dominated the first half, but the second half was not quite like that.

"It was difficult for them, but we played well. Last year we lost a good game, this year we took one point. I am not happy but I prefer this."

The draw with Chelsea means City missed out on the chance to return to the Premier League summit and must settle for second place, a point behind leaders Manchester United.
