Ben Mee: 'I wouldn't change Manchester City exit'

Burnley defender Ben Mee insists that he has no regrets over his move to Turf Moor from Manchester City three years ago.

Ben Mee has insisted that he has no regrets over his decision to leave Manchester City to join Burnley after coming through the Premier League champions' youth system.

The defender, who captained City's academy squad to the FA Youth Cup win in 2008, joined Burnley on loan in 2011, making the move permanent in 2012.

The 25-year-old told the Daily Star: "To get that education would be fantastic for any youngster, but it's not everything. Facilities aren't everything. You need the right coaches and the right people around you to help you and I wouldn't go back and change anything.

"I had great people there at the Academy, who aren't there any more, and it was a good time to be part of it. I don't need everything provided for me. Give me something simple and I can deal with it, so for me it's not a problem.

"I've experienced a lot of different things, and not having the facilities a massive club like City have got has been good for me to adapt and see another side of it."

City opened their new £200m 16-pitch Academy and training centre next to the Etihad Stadium earlier this week.
