Manuel Pellegrini has rubbished suggestions that the age of his Manchester City squad is a leading contributor to the Citizens' trophiless season.
Pellegrini, 61, boasts the oldest squad in the Premier League but the Chilean refuses to accept that age is among the reasons why his side failed to win anything this season.
Juventus edged out Real Madrid this week to reach the Champions League final, and Pellegrini says that perhaps the Bianconeri are a prime example of how insignificant that theory is.
"Maybe we are not so old," he told City's official website. "Juventus have five players more than 30 years old but the experience is also very important to win titles.
"I am very glad for Juventus because they deserve to be in the final but that is not any relation to what I think about our squad.
"Maybe we need some young players but we didn't lose the title this year because we are an old squad."
The Sky Blues sit nine points behind champions Chelsea, who snatched their title away from them this season.
