Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that it was vital for his side to get back to winning ways in their 2-0 victory over Leicester City.
The Citizens were coming into the match off back-to-back defeats to Barcelona in the Champions League and Liverpool in their last Premier League outing, missing out on the chance to close ground on Chelsea in the title race in the process.
However, Pellegrini's men responded with a victory over the Foxes thanks to strikes from David Silva and James Milner, despite being far from their best at the Etihad Stadium.
He told BBC Sport: "It's been a difficult week but from the beginning we tried to dominate. It was very important to score our first goal when we did but we had more chances in second half and we improved.
"At 1-0 you are one ball away from drawing the game. It's very important to play well but the most important thing is to win."
City are five points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea with 10 games to play this season.
