Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini laments a series of missed chances as they draw 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini lamented a series of missed chances as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday.

City were guilty of spurning a number of opportunities before Fernandinho put them ahead on 74 minutes, only for the champions to be pegged back five minutes later by Steven Naismith's header.

"I think that we are not happy with a point," Pellegrini told Sky Sports News. "I think we had three or four clear chances in the first 25 minutes where we can decide the game. We didn't finish well.

"After that the second half was a closer game and Everton improved their performance. It was very important to score one of our chances to give us more time to prepare the second half. Everton were in a bad moment and if we we're winning it [would have] given us a chance.

"Everton have many good players and they scored a good goal. I expected a very tough game because they're a good team with good players and if you asked me before the game I would have said a draw would have been normal."

The result means that Chelsea hold a two-point advantage over City at the top of the Premier League table.
