Manchester City outcast Roque Santa Cruz has revealed his wish to return to Real Betis on a permanent deal.
The striker spent the season on loan in Spain after it became clear that he was no longer in the first-team picture at the Etihad Stadium.
Following the conclusion of the La Liga campaign, Santa Cruz has returned to Eastlands but wants to rejoin Betis next year if they can reach an agreement with City for his services.
"I'm fine here and I want to stay and there will be talks, hopefully in the coming weeks, with my agent," said Santa Cruz at a club sponsorship event.
"It is important to see [City] face negotiations with a smile on their face. The club has made a major investment in me and is entitled to see something in exchange.
"They do not want to give away players, many players are in a situation like mine. Betis have my word that I will do everything possible to stay, although it depends on City."
The Paraguayan netted seven times in 32 appearances for Betis during his loan spell.
